KNOW BARCELONA
Barcelona's strategic position has contributed to its cosmopolitan nature for centuries. It was an important trade centre during the Roman Empire, it flourished during the Middle Ages and in the 19th century it became one of the most important cities in the Mediterranean Sea because of the industrialization and the Renaixença. However, it has been in recent decades that the city has enjoyed its greatest period of splendour and now it is considered an attractive cultural, architectural and social centre. The mix of good weather, wide range of culture, beach and party make Barcelona the most visited city in the country.
WHAT TO DO?
Among the multiple attractions that Barcelona offers to visitors, the modernist architecture is one of the most important, especially the work of Antoni Gaudí and his masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia. There is also Parc Güell or the different particular houses spread over the city, all of them make your imagination fly to the sinuous shapes of modernism.
Most of the atmosphere of Barcelona is due to the beach and the many bars and restaurants where you will spend more hours than planned. Good weather is common here.
Ciutat Vella, the old medieval city centre, still preserves the charm on its streets and small alleys. Meanwhile, to enjoy a more bohemian scene, there is nothing like going for a walk and drinking some beers in the Gracia neighbourhood.
If you still have energy, Barcelona's nightlife will not disappoint you: plenty of bars, pubs and clubs are ready to help you have fun for as long as you can last.
